Death of a beloved pet

I’m so sorry for my little brother right now. Tonight his guinea pig Pärlan (swedish for “Pearl”) died. She’s been sick for a while and tonight she got worse. She died in my brothers arms a couple of hours ago. At least she died feeling loved, being held and patted. I talked to mom on the phone and told her to give my brother a big hug from me. Poor Smulan (swedish for “crumble”), my sisters guinea pig is all alone now.

Having pets is wonderful. The entire family have had pets since forever. Dogs, cats, mice, hamsters, guinea pigs, a rabbit and even a snake. I have two cats living with me and one cat living with my parents. Bettan who is living with my parents turns fifteen this summer and I’m geting quite worried about loosing her soon. I remember how horrible it was loosing my dog Puff a couple of years ago. My parents got him for me when I was two years old and he died when I was twenty, three months before his eighteenth (!) birthday. I still miss him a lot and just thinking about him brings tears to my eyes. That’s the only bad thing about pets. They die too soon. A eighteen year old dog is quite remarkable but it’s still such a short time conscidering us humans can live up to a hundred years if we get to keep our health. My parents have another dog now but he’ll die before us aswell and so will all my cats. We get to have our pets for such a short time.

  1. Oh my I feel bad for your brother.I have lost three pets and it was hard for me.My kitty cat died when I was 17 and we had her since I was five when we found her under my aunts car and she was just a little one.Anyway subject change lol the swedish language sounds quite cool english is blah we don’t really have any interesting words it seems.I adore your new layout I wish I knew how to do the top image like you do.I am jealous lol.

  2. As you know I understand that pain and grief. I hope your brother dose well. The oldest animal we’ve had was Ssuma, she was 10. She was poisoned with anti-freeze when I was 12. It really hurt, because my next door neighbor had done it on purpose. She would’ve lived a few more years. Precious had just turned nine on the sixth.

I am not completely vegan. I am making a slow transition. I have cut out gluten because of the harm done to make it. I have a weak body, so i still eat eggs, fish, and dairy to make sure I get protein. though once i find other resources I’d love to go vegan.

I can’t help but think Jared Leto is a sexy beast. His eyes are just amazing.

  3. I’d love to have a pet but I can’t!!!!! My parents only allow me to keep fishes. Ewww, they are ugly kois. >:( aww it’s sad that pets lifespan don’t last long.

  4. I’m so sorry to hear about your brother’s guinea pig. You’ve read my blog so you know recently I had to deal with a similar situation. My pets are like my children, its impossible to not consider pets part of the family, when they hurt-you hurt; and vice versa. My eldest dog is 4 1/2 years old so I try to spend as much time with, and pamper him as much as I can now …I can only hope that my babies will live 15+ years. Hope your bother cheers up soon. :(

  5. You must really love animals.
I myself am not an animal person so in the past when my pets have died it didn’t really effect me. I know I sound horrible, but I’m really not.

I feel sorry for your brother.

I’ve closed my site for a bit, but I will be blogging here,

if you comment me on that site you will need to write your url after your comment because theres no url box on the comment form (I’m not sure if I can change that, on the site I’m using).

  6. How sad. All I can say is love em while they are here.
We have always had pets too. Cats, dogs, fish, ducks, chickens, rabbits right now. We have had guinea pigs and hamsters before.

  7. I think having pets are wonderful, but sad when their time’s up. If only their lives were as long as us (as long as they don’t grow just as big/tall as us XD). Wow 2 cats of your own, lucky! My parents are strict about having pets in the house .__. I’m definitely getting some of my own when I move out~

  8. Aww that is sad, but it is a nice thought that it died peacefully, it’s last memory will be a nice one! I had a guinea pig too some time ago, I remember when he died, he was sleeping in his basket, that’s where he slept all the time, peeping through the opening, it was so cute.
The main reason why I don’t want to get a dog or a cat is because it grows so old, a hamster or a guinea pig can only turn 2/3 years? So you don’t get as attached to it as a dog, if you have a dog it’s really an empty void when it’s gone… I can’t imagen what it’d be like.

  9. We have chinchillas, which live for up to 20 years but usually less. I hope they live a long time! My mom and sister have had a few guinea pigs and one of theirs died recently too. :(
