Festival report

I know I said I wouldn’t update the blog until the festival is over but I do have the time for a quick update right now. It’s 8:30 PM and I got home one hour ago. After a much needed cold shower I’m sitting here with a vodka drink. Today I worked my first day at the festival between 9 AM and 7 PM. I’ve had many litres of water to drink, I’ve got a terrible sunburn, before the shower every inch of me was dirty and I’m soo physically tired. But… it was fun! Today I worked as a runner and me and the other runner where in charge of making sure everyone working around the Hawaii stage had water and we also had to clean the toilet. Other than that we built some staircases and did a “tipspromenad”. I can’t translate that but it’s basicly a game where everyone are to answear a couple of questions. Me and the other runner wrote the questions which were about the festival and the Hawaii stage. Right now there’s a barbeque going on behind the Hawaii stage for all the people who worked there today but I just wanted to go home and have a shower. And the tipspromenad which they’re doing tonight isn’t too much fun for me since I was one of the people who wrote the questions. :P

Last year I worked as security at a gate making sure only people with acces got through. It was incredibly boring so I’m very happy with this years job where I actually get to do other things than just open and close a gate! And it’s really fun to be a part of the construction of the festival. There’s something going on everywhere! Stages being built, carpentry being made, cars, tractors, trucks, people, people, people. I pity the poor guys working with building the stage though. It’s a very heavy job building a 55 ton heavy stage in the hot burning sun for eleven hours.

This is the stage. So far without a roof. The roof is eventually going waaay up there.

A construction site for the moment. Where the crowd will cheer to Rage Against The Machine in three days.

  1. That job sounds awesome! Hope you have a good time (:
Also, I hope you post pics of your newly coloured hair soon, I’m really curious about what it looks like :P

  2. Awesome to get to be backstage to such a large event! I hope you get to have royal fun when you’re not working
A friend of mine was planning on seeing rage against the machine, but everyone bullied him out of it XD

  3. That job sounds awesome! I would love to do anything like that! And it looks pretty amazing to see the entire process of a festival. I never realized a stage was that big, it looks smaller when it’s finished ^^
