It’s 2:38 AM and I just got home from my second and last day of work at the rock festival. I’ve been working for seventeen hours straight and I’m so very tired. But I had fun! I worked backstage at the Hawaii stage again today and tonight Babyshambles, Serj Tankian and Rage Against the Machine played. We waved at Serj Tankian, he waved back. Pete Doherty passed by me two meters away, looking high. And I saw RATM close by after their gig when they left the stage. It wasn’t exactly time for autographs since I worked backstage. I don’t think we’re even allowed to ask for that and I wouldn’t anyway. Not while working.
So the day was kinda slow with not so much to do but it was alright anyway because it was fun just to watch everything going on. In the middle of RATM’s concert I got to jump in as a water girl though. There were thousands of people in the audience and the ones up front closest to the stage were kinda packed so the security behind the fences separating the crowd from the stage handed out water. LOTS of water. So I ran away with some security lady and got a huge red security shirt and then ran back and forth filling water bottles and handing them out. It was interesting being THAT close to the stage. Not that I had any time to enjoy it though since I basicly just ran out there and left some water bottles and then ran back backstage to fill up some new ones.
Monday I worked for ten hours and today for seventeen so that makes it twenty-seven hours. That’s a lot, but I loved it. I’m a bit sad I’m done with the work and that says a lot! Last year I couldn’t be happier to be done with my festival work because last years job was incredibly boring. But this? Fucking great! Getting to be there while everything was being built was fun and getting to work backstage during the concerts was even better.
Now I need to go to sleep because I need many hours of rest to recover from this day. My feet hurt, my arms hurt and I’m so very tired. Tomorrows plan is to sleep until at least 3 PM, take a long shower, get dressed, get drunk, go to the festival area, see HIM (YAY!) and then party all night.
Rock festivals FTW!
