I’m in a weird place right now. I’m bored with my routines and yet I don’t really feel like doing anything or seeing anyone. I’m not really up for leaving my apartment unless I have to but I do need something new to do. A hobby. A new hobby which doesn’t force me to see anyone or go out. Kind of like all my hobbies. Except for parties and such.
I paint, I write, I read, I sew, I have this site and I occasionaly play computer games. What more hobbies are there that are best done in solitude? I’ve thought of scrapbooking but that’s not really my thing. I thought about Feng Shui aswell but I’m not too fond of the idea that mystical energy forces should be what decides where my furniture should be placed. Origami seems too dull and I wouldn’t know what to do with my paper figures anyway. I’m not a fan of cooking. I can’t do any carpentry in my apartment. I’m not into photography. Making jewelry is fun, for ten minutes. I tried wicca with tarot cards and all that when I was a teenager but I’m too sceptical for such things nowadays.
What more is there?!

Have you tried knitting or crocheting? You mentioned sewing and it’s different with technique but same since you are creating something. I like knitting more than crocheting because I’m fan of two needles and not just one.
I can also suggest puzzles. Puzzles are a popular thing with senior citizens where I stay but it works.
You know I go through phases like this where being alone and indoors is much more rewarding for me than being outside and socialable… but then other times I just want to go outside and be with people and hang out with everyone… ya know? I don’t think there is anything wrong with you wanting to be able to spend time alone.
When I like to be alone I really like to do cross stitches – I make people presents likke book marks and things!!
Could always try web design. I mean like really getting into it.
And I know how you feel.
I go through those phases a lot. It used to be less, but now that I’m constantly out of the house, I just need the small amount of time I have to myself.
Hmmm.. a simply to pass time hobby, or a hobby-that-has-life-benefits? =P You could dedicate yourself to learning something new, perhaps a language or something… or start a really challenging fitness regime… Though I don’t know whether you would regard them as hobbies or something of a bore/chore lol.
What about a bit project that could involve the use of your artsy side – revamping the home? Moving things around, making pieces of artwork to decorate the home or sets of art to showcase… re-painting rooms? A mural one an entire bedroom or lounge room wall or something or other?

I had read this entry yesterday – figured I’d think it over and come back with an answer to your problem. I was going to suggest what I do, but you mentioned those in your entry. Web design, graphic design, play online MMORPG [I play noobish, Runescape but it keeps me busy] scrapbook — that’s what I do, but you mentioned those. So, then I thought of some other ideas but you can see above because they’ve already been mentioned. Therefore, I am absolutely no help to you. Sorry to have failed you. LOL
