Funny meme

This is something I saw in Mihoriels blog.

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me!

It can be pretty much anything but most likeley pretty small so it can be sent in the mail without costing a fortune.

There’s a catch though.  If you’re one of the first five to comment this post you’ll have to post this message in your blog aswell and make things for the first five people who comment your blog post.

If you’re not interesed just check out my previous entry instead. :)

Me and my books

I bought two antique books yesterday. One is from 1866 and the other from 1870. I collect antique books but I only have fifteen so far. Most of them are from the 19th century and a few from the early 20th.

I love old books. I love the broken old leather and the yellow pages. I love to read the signatures on the first pages, printed down by the people who owned them a  long time ago. I love the small newspaper notices I sometimes find between the pages. I love the smell of the dusty attics and old boxes they’ve been kept in before they found their ways to the acutions and thrift stores where I found them.

It’s amazing to think about how different the world was 150 years ago. The world has changed so much and everyone who lived back then are dead now. But their books are still here, in my book shelf. A piece of that time is kept. The same book I hold in my hands were held by someone else 150 years ago. Perhaps it was read on board of a steam engine train by someone dressed in a long flowing victorian dress. Or by a farmer in a cottage in the woods, in the light of a kerosine lamp. That time is long gone but the books remains. For me it’s just the most amazing feeling. To own such a piece of history.

Music meme

Belinda tagged everyone who wanted to do this music meme. I also tag everyone who wants to do this.

The rules:
1. List five of your favorite bands/artists.
2. Choose three songs from each band/artist.
3. If you can find a link to listen to the song at Last.fm, YouTube, etc. post it!
4. Tag five people.

1. Manic Street Preachers
Spectators of Suicide
Yes
Cardiff Afterlife

2. Nirvana
In His Hands
Sappy
Smells Like Teen Spirit

3. Dia Psalma
Luft
Hon får
Alla älskar dig

4. HIM
Join Me In Death
The Funeral of Hearts
Poison Girl

5. Broder Daniel
Whirlwind
I’ll Be Gone
When We Were Winning

You should take the time to at least click one link and check out “Whirlwind” by Broder Daniel. This is the song I named my site after! In the late 90′s and early 00′s there was a entire subculture complete with a fashion of it’s own revolving around this band, which I of course was a part of. :P

You should also check out the video to “Poison girl” by HIM. It’s from last years Hultsfred festival. I saw that concert and worked backstage at the stage they’re playing on.

And if you’re not in a hurry watch the rest of the videos aswell! These are after all some of my favourite songs which I really reccomend.

Tagged

I was tagged by Becca. I’ve done this one before but coming up with six random things about myself isn’t all that hard so I do this one again. :P

1. When I was a teenager and dressed a bit more extravagant I got a lot of attention whenever I left the house. I’ve both been interviewed about my style and had my photo taken for peoples photo exibitions. The irony of it all is that I don’t even like that kind of attention. People often assume that anyone who wears a plastic tiara or dyes her hair bright pink must love attention but I don’t. I hate it.

2. When I was thirteen I listened to Backstreet Boys and Spice Girls. Yes, even I went through the embarassing teeny bopper period! O_o I got over it pretty fast though and by the age of fifteen I only listened to good music, bands I still love.

3. My middle names are Birgitta Ingegärd. When I was a kid I hated those names but now I’ve come to like them since they’re both medieval and I’m very fascinated with the middle-ages.

4. I don’t dream about fame. Or rather, I don’t dream about the type of fame which includes interiews, red carpets and my face on tv. I want to be a famous writer but I only want to be famous for writing a great book. Not for myself as a person. I’m a private person and I wouldn’t like thousands of strangers knowing everything about my childhood, where I buy my clothes and what I prefer to eat for breakfast. Besides, famous people are criticised a lot and I’m too sensitive for that.

5. I’m not good with make-up and I only ever do two different kinds. One consists of mascara, silver eyeshadow and silver glitter and the other of mascara, black eyeliner and silver glitter. And that’s it. I never use other colours or products.

6. A lot of people have phobias and fears of heights, spiders, blood and similar things. I only have one real fear. Death. The only things I’m really afraid of are things that could kill me and it’s not actually doing those things that scares me but that possibility that something could go wrong and I’d end up dead. I’m quite fond of both heights and speed but still I’d never do a parachute jump or ride a motorcycle, because things could go wrong. If I knew for sure that I’d survive a parachute jump I’d love to try it! Same with bungy jump, rock climbing and rafting. I’m adventurous but way too catious for extreme sports.

The winter blues

I want times like this:

summer

Summer + sun + friends + alcohol = Happy Angelica.

Right now summer seems terribly far away and I’m already more tired of the winter than I can put into words. The darkness and cold of the winter have a terrible effect on my mood and I always feel down this time of the year. As soon as spring arrives the hippie inside me will wake up and I’ll only want to listen to 60s flower power music while taking walks by the lake photographing flowers. But right now all I want to do is stay inside and listen to my favourite sad songs. And sleep. Sleep a lot.

New years wish to do’s

I don’t do new years resolutions but here’s a list of things I’ll try to accomplish in 2009. Ok, I guess that’s the same thing as new years resolutions but I don’t promise to do these things. The thing with promising to do things is that you feel like a failure when you don’t succeed with the things you’ve promised yourself to do. So, here are my new years wish to do’s.

1. Move away from Hultsfred.
2. Read at least 30 books of which 10 are classics.
3. Take a trip somewhere. Perhaps Visby or Stockholm and Västerås.
4. Loose weight.
5. Cook a proper meal at least once a week.

Obviously number one is the most important thing on the list. It’s really important that I get the fuck out of this town. This means I’ll have to work even harder trying to find a apartment.

Number two is quite important aswell. I’ve only read eighteen books this year and that’s embarassing. I need to read a lot more and I really need to read more classics. I’ll probably start with “Madame Bovary” by Gustave Flaubert or “Wuthering Heights” by Emily Brontë since I own those books. I really want to read “Catcher In The Rye” by J.D. Salinger and 1984 by George Orwell aswell.

Taking a trip somewhere isn’t important if I move away from Hultsfred because if I do I’ll have a new city to explore. If I don’t I really need a vacation.

Loose weight isn’t extremely important but it would be nice. It’s not like it would be that hard. I just need to change my very weird eating habits which goes something like either eating nothing at all or eating way too unhealthy food. Basicly I’m just lazy when it comes to cooking.

Which leads me to number five; cooking a proper meal at least once a week. By a proper meal I mean something semi-advanced from one of my cooking books. Preferably something I’ve never made before. My cooking skills are extremely poor and my eating habits are terrible so this would be really good for me.

So what do you want to accomplish in 2009?

EDIT: Meet my newest affiliates Darryl, Willian and Gina!
