I’m really too much of a perfectionist. Today I’ve spent several hours coding, fixing a problem with the padding. Well not a problem, more of a aesthetic issue which was bothering me. Who would have thought a layout with rounded boxes would be so tricky! Perhaps it’s not. It might just be my way of coding it that is. After all I figured out to how to do rounded boxes by experimenting. There’s probably a easier way to accomplish this, if you read a tutorial or two.

I’m still very pleased. It looks good. The only thing that bothers me is that my next layout have to top this. I’m thinking shadows, highlights and gradients of some kind. Too bad the only graphics oriented thing I know how to do is blends. And I don’t use blends in my layouts anymore. My current web design goal is to make a really ace web 2.0 layout. This layout is pretty web 2.0 but not ace enough.

My current goal in life is to study web design for real. I’m gonna start looking into distance educations and if I’m lucky I’ll be a student in six months. I’ll start out with basic web design. Obviously after ten years of building web pages I already know the basic stuff but at least I’ll have what I can do on paper. And after the basic stuff I can apply to more advanced classes and start to really learn and improve. I hope that I’ll one day will be able to work and support myself as a web designer. Except for my more crazy plans involving hippie vans and travelling web design is the only thing I can see myself working with for a longer period of time. The thrift store job has been fun and all but it’s not what I want to do with my life.

Oh and I decided not to accept affiliates anymore. I prefer finding cool sites to link myself rather than having people apply for it. Plus I really hate turning people down. No matter how you put it it’s so personal. It’s like saying “No thank you, I don’t like your site”. If you’ve been my affiliate there’s no need to worry though. Except for dead links and people who haven’t commented in months all of you are still linked, but now as “favourites” instead of “affiliates.

I couldn’t find your tagboard. Hehe. I don’t like twitter tho. I think it’s a really crazy idea and I don’t understand what the obsession everyone has with it. All the news stations and clebs are even breaking news on twitter. It’s like, whoa society has lost their mines for real! Lol.

I’d love to study web design too! I’m trying to master footers right now tho. But don’t have time to study anything right now. Just focusing on other stuff like school and everything right now.

  2. Justin Justin says:

Yeah this layout is pretty awesome… i’m not sure if you can top this either….. nahhh you have skills so i’m not really worried. :)

I’m not sure since you’re using divs, but with tables, rounded boxes can be done really really easily.

  3. Kristine Kristine says:

Aw thanks! The XF is an awesome show, I’ve been a loooong time fan. What are your favorite episodes? I’ve been re-watching it too on the Sci Fi channel lately.
I really like this layout, but I’m sure you’ll come up with something fabulous for your next layout :D
And I want to study web design also, probably after I graduate from graphic design next year :)

  4. kitty kitty says:

Hi! I came here yesterday and your site was down I was afraid you’re gonna disappear again!
nice to hear you found your goal in life, maybe when you learn the basic stuff you can tutor other students that don’t know the basic stuff and earn money that way or something.

i will make you two bracelets for $15 instead of 18 and the delivery is free of charge for a while.. untill I figure it out (like different prices for different envelopes/boxes)

btw I saw the pics from your medival festival, you look so pretty, where’d you all get those dresses?!

  5. scott scott says:

im on them too, but i still have my days.. thanks for stopping by

  6. Kitty Kitty says:

That’s what I thought too. At least a hug and a birthday wish would do. And at the least I know they care. Oh well, I can’t be bothered with it anymore.

Hahaha, when it’s time about coding or my site, my ‘perfectionist mode’ would switches on automatically. I want the best for my site and I want it to leave a good impression on my visitors.

I’m so agreeing with you on the bit about affiliate thing. I hate to turn down affy applications but it annoys me more when once they are accepted, they never visit me again. Grrr..

Anyway, good luck on the next attempt to make a better layout :)

  7. kitty kitty says:

E-mail me your wrist size (in CM would be good if you can), you can pay me with paypal.
Oh and e-mail me your full address please (:

  8. maria maria says:

Yay! Im so happy for you that you’re doing that, you have obvious super talent for it:) :) :)
I understand what you mean you have to top your self, how else to grow unless you drive yourself forward! Good job with this layout, it’s super clean and cool!

  9. Sakura Sakura says:

    Yeah, same for me too.

Sometimes I find myself been too much of a perfectionist too. Padding problems and rounded tables are indeed tricky. Good luck in studying web design!

  10. tiff k tiff k says:

I’m glad that you know what you’re going to do dear! I can’t wait for your future layout!! I’m still a noob at webdesign but I hope I’ll learn too! Good luck!! :D :D hehee

Yah I think it’s better to just choose your affiliates :D but people can still apply link exchanges at my blog :P

  11. Kristine Kristine says:

I have lots of favorites..”Humbug”, “Triangle”, and “Jose Chung’s From Outer Space” are my top 3

  12. Kaz Kaz says:

This layout is amazing! I love the header image with the cats, it rocks!
I think that’s great you are going to be studying web design, I’ve only studied the basics and from doing it as a hobby but to study it in depth will be really cool! I have to admit I am like that with my coding, if something bothers me, I will fix it.

Anyway good luck with everything!! :)

  13. Katie Katie says:

I do like this layout though, and the rounded boxes are cute.

But then again, experimenting with the codes is what makes you better. If you don’t experiment you won’t learn something new. Sure tutorials are going to help you – for me they help me to begin with, but then i finish it and forget it and then want to remember it. When I just experiment it sticks in my mind more.

Maybe I’m just weird like that, I don’t know.

Ah yes, I always use twitter. It’s like my addiction, then Facebook. Dailybooths interesting.

  14. Amber Amber says:

I’ve loved this layout as long as you’ve had it up. The thing about little tweeks you feel you have to do in your code, is most of your visitors don’t really notice them. I have one in mine that drives me nuts and I still haven’t been able to fix it, in ie my navigation is a HUGE UGLY BLACK BAR all along the top covering my header, but in firefox its three nice little boxes to click. I finally said whatever lol.

As far as affiliates go, I totaly agree, I’ve never been one for link exchange or affiliates, you get people asking who have, to risk being a bit rude, not nice looking sites and just want people to come by. I would much rather showcase people I think have talent or something interesting to say.

:) :D :P 8) ;)    :? :| :/ :O :( >:( >:) more »
