It’s interesting how people from other countries think that the entire Sweden has the same climate. Of course that’s not odd since I sure as hell don’t know much about the climate of other countries than Sweden and our closest neighbours Norway, Finland and Denmark.
Still I can’t help but laugh when I read questions on traveling forums where people ask about dog sledding possibilities in Stockholm. We don’t get much snow here in the south and there’s certainly hard to find a dog sled in the Stockholm area. It’s the same with reindeers. There are none in the southern Sweden.
Another funny thing is how people from the southern Sweden think that the climate difference between the south and the north is way bigger than it actually is. When friends of my mother from the south where to visit us in my old home town in the north they asked about whether they needed to bring knitted sweaters and warm jackets with them. In June. The summer may be pretty short there but there is a summer! And it gets pretty hot there as well.
The climate doesn’t differ that much during the summer. It’s during the winter that the climate difference gets big. The temperature, the amount of snow, the length of the winter vary greatly depending on which part of the country you live in.
After ten years in the south the short winter, early spring and lack of snow still amazes me. In February I see signs of spring while people who grew up here think I’m crazy. But the thing is as soon as the snow is gone and the temperatures goes above 0C (32F) I think it’s spring time. Because spring in the north isn’t as much about flowers as it is about melting snow.
God I’m so happy I don’t live there anymore. Because I hate cold weather and snow and love sunshine, green forests and flowers.
Which season is your favourite?

I love Winter !
I usually hate the Summer and stuff, but I think it’s because the Summers in Malta are so hot and sticky, they can be quite annoying. But it seems like Summers in Sweden are much nicer, I guess if you have green forests and flowers. Everything is brown and dry in Summer in Malta, lol.
Thinking of it, Spring in Malta is quite nice as well though. Not so cold, not so warm, just nice.
Hah, and you reminded me that I MUST visit Sweden sometime soon ! My 9 year old brother was there with his school last Winter (yes, so lucky) and I’m still so jealous !
That’s interesting that there is such a climate difference in Sweden. I didn’t realize it was such a big place. I really don’t know much about the world outside of North America which is pretty sad. Canada also have a wide range of climate but then again it is HUGE! Or at least I think it is lol.
Wow I’m sorry to hear you went through something like that…I’m not extreme, I’m just constantly obsessed. I’d love to look like Kate Moss too, even though I know she is probably unhealthy skinny.
My favourite season is autumn. I like the colours. And it’s not too cold, but not too warm.
Haha I do wish for four seasons! and I wish to experience winter, i really like cold weather *well i guess not extremely cold haha* even if people say snow sucks or something. I just really want to see and touch snow
Oh! Are you still interested in exchanging candies? Didn’t hear from you a while back… hehee
I’m a winter person. I find that my body deals better with cold temperatures than hot ones. Anything over 20° Celsius and I get heatstroke in a matter of seconds. Which… is why I’m destined to move further North and bask in the cooler climate.
We get the same thing here in Canada. Just because certain areas of the country have mini ice ages during the winter, everyone assumes we all do. It’s very annoying. I know here in BC (I live right smack dab in the middle), down in the lower mainland, especially near the ocean, there is next to no snow. It’s not uncommon for my city to get six feet of snow overnight. The only thing southern BC-ers have to really deal with is the freezing winds and the occasional freezing rain storm.
