Which people know about your blog and how private are you when you’re blogging?
My blog is pretty much out in the open so to speak. My friends read it, my family knows about it and I’ve got it linked on pretty much every social network site I’m a member of. Even if I prefer that some people stay away from my site I make no attempt of hiding my identity here. In the end no matter how hard you try to be private and secretive the truth is that everything on the internet can be found by anyone.
Since my site is no secret that of course limits what I feel comfortable blogging about. I go after the motto “If you can’t say it to their face don’t say it online”. That means I don’t trash talk people online unless I’m in a open conflict with them. It also means that I don’t blog about sex because I sure as hell wouldn’t want my parents to check out my site and find blog posts about my sex life! The most important thing with this policy is that I keep parts of my life private. You wouldn’t tell anyone just anything about yourself would you? And you sure as hell wouldn’t want someone you dislike to know private things about you? Still lots of people blog about just about everything going on in their lives even though with luck or determination anyone can find it. One last thing I don’t blog about is what’s going on with people I know because that’s just rude. Who am I to expose their lives?
How private are you on Facebook? Are you one of those who keep their profile private?
My Facebook profile can be viewed by anyone. I figure everything that can be found on my Facebook can be found on my site so what’s the use keeping it private?
With all this said I still prefer that some people never find my site or my Facebook profile. Just like I prefer some people to stay as far as way from me as possible in real life I prefer some people to stay as far as way as possible from me online.

Welcome to Whirlwind, the online home of a 26 year old Swedish girl named

I made that very mistake in my early days of blogging– and to think I blogged in Friendster, where my blog is extremely easy to get into. I talked a lot about personal stuff in it and realized how stupid it was after my friends asked me about it. Dang.
I’m trying these days to cut a little on the personal stuff on my blog, and use metaphors instead if I couldn’t really take it. I know changing my url won’t keep my friends away from prying into my blog but at least it’ll keep them away for a while…. if that even makes sense. -_-
pretty much the reason i closed down my regular blog-i felt insecure about who and why would read my blog. felt odd to write stuff that feels to personal or even oppinions in general, i want to know who knows certain info about me. that’s a reason my facebook page is personal.
i dislike many people of my past, and would not want them knowing anything about me:)
maria – Jag antar att några från ditt förflutna som du ogillar är samma personer som jag också ogillar. Vår högstadieklass var ju inte direkt full av vettiga människor.
If I still had somewhat of a social life I would totally agree to all of the above, but considering that my social life has gone out the window, there aren’t too many people that I wouldn’t allow to view my weblog. I keep some things to myself, like christmas gifts im buying everyone this year. I wouldn’t want someone freak accident to happen and those im buying for stumble upon that blog. But other than that i’m fairly open about blogging about my life.
I don’t try to keep my blog a secret, but it’s not something I go around telling people about either. Seeing as I don’t really write about private stuff I don’t mind people finding my blog:)
IDAG borde du få din julklapp! Du får själv välja om du vill öppna den på en gång, eller vänta. Det är ju verkligen en skitgrej (10 pix öb ftw!). Men det är du. Eller ja. (Kafferus ftl!
:(:S:D)
:D:D:D Fuckface!
Hahaha! Glöm inte att kolla namnet på kuvertet!
I’m not overly private. I have my facebook profile on private because I don’t really want too many creepers to know my current location, but that’s a fear that was drilled into me by my father when I was little.
My blog isn’t a secret. I’ve told all my friends and such. I just don’t get too personal on either the blog of facebook. I don’t like making waves over the internet and I don’t like to get too personal.
I try not to be too personal but I have made that mistake before.
Privacy is a nice idea. If you own a website or have any kind of social networking profile, you pretty much give up your right to privacy. You’re exactly right — if someone wants to find you, they will.
I have a few people I wish would get along and not watch every move I make on my site, but then the attention does kinda raise my stats so bring it on, I guess.
What I put on my site is for no one else but myself. If someone doesn’t like it, they can kiss the whitest part of my ass
angelica: nej högstadieklassen kunde jag bry mig mindre om.. ex och sånt du vet:)
