New layout! Yay, yay, yay! I call it “All Bats Are Grey”. If you know of The Cure you’ll probably get it.
I don’t know how many hours I’ve spent working on this one but somewhere between Friday and Saturday I stayed awake for 36 hours, coding non-stop. It was all worth it in the end, of course, because here it is and I love it!
I noticed something when I upgraded Wordpress. I’ve always uploaded my photos into www.whirlwind.nu/images but now even though I haven’t changed the image code the photos won’t show! If I use use the full adress img src=”http://www.whirlwind.nu/images/pic.jpg” it works but not if I use img src=”images/pic.jpg” like I’ve always done. What is this? Why is this? Is it because they want you to use the Wordpress media manager update thingy or whatever it’s called? Well I won’t because I’m old fashioned when it comes to coding. I upload by FTP! I wish Wordpress wasn’t so automatized. I want to make changes in the layout by coding, not by changing settings in the admin panel. Like I said, old fashioned. It’s just the way I’ve always done things.
The gallery isn’t up yet. This is because I made major changes in the coding. The only part of my site ran by Wordpress used to be the blog section. All other sections (she, site, gallery, www) were my own code. I preferred it that way but making first one layout for Wordpress and then another one looking exactly the same down to the smallest pixel, while it was structured in a totally different code, was a real pain. You really couldn’t tell it was always two layouts and I’m proud of that. Enough is enough though. It’s just too much work. First making two layouts and then making sure those two works in five different browsers (I test in Opera, FF, IE, Safari and Chrome). So, now my entire site is ran by Wordpress. Not the way I prefer it but I just can’t be bothered with all that extra work any more. Now I need to figure out a way to structure my gallery. I don’t think the way I coded it works in Wordpress, with using pages and all. Oh well, I’ll figure something out.

Vet inte varför bilderna inte funkar som de gjorde förut, men se det som ett lämpligt tillfälle att släppa en onödig vana.
Jag laddade också upp bilderna med ftp typ första halvåret jag använde Wordpress, men sedan gick jag över till att använda WP-uppladdningen. Det är smidigare. Jag fattar absolut lockelsen med att fortsätta göra som man är van att göra, men det är himla opraktiskt att hålla fast vid något gammalt när det nyare faktiskt funkar bättre. 
Hade förresten också som du ganska länge: bara bloggen i WP och resten av innehållet som vanlig sida. Snacka om onödigt jobb man lägger ner ibland, bara på grund av gamla vanor…
Förresten finns det säkert flera bra galleri-plugins till WP.
Suddenly my vocabulary isn’t broad enough to find words for how amazing your new layout is! How in the world are you using that font for the blog titles?! I love the black frames too.

Love it! All the hours of coding payed off! I followed them all on Twitter.. I wish I still had the same motivation for making a layout.. or for maintaining a proper website!

I know what you mean about Wordpress trying to control everything from their dashboard these days…I much prefer to do a lot of the smaller things from scratch too, like FTP uploading, posting images, etc. I like to have that finely tuned control over my site too…WP can be such a control freak at times, lol.
Anyway, good luck getting the gallery back up and running. I don’t notice any errors btw…I’m using the latest Firefox on 64-bit Vista.

The image problem… Try placing an extra “/” before images. Like this:
“/images/pic.jpg”
That usually works for me when I’m in that sort of problem… Good luck!

The new layout is fantastic! Usually I don’t find black-and-white/gray themes to be that great for my eyes but this looks lovely. I like the little illustrations up there;D
I don’t know a lot about FTP and how Wordpress works, but I hope everything works out just fine soon!
Like I had previously stated on twitter, this is by far your best work yet. I’m incredibly impressed with all of it. You completely out did yourself with this one!
I wish I had the dedication to give a rats ass whether or not it tests fine in IE, FF, Chrome, Safari, and Opera. Usually I look at it and test it in FF, if it is alright. I open IE and make sure that you can see everything correctly. You don’t have to squint or something is messed up; If it is fine, good, I’m done.
Maybe with my next theme I”ll care more. Hmm. We will have to wait and see.
As for the gallery and the picture questions, I wish I could tell you an answer to those. Ever since I started using WP I have been going directly through WP with my pages and such.
Ohhh I like it! I love wooden patterns! And I just recently bought a frame just like yours’, haha!
Wordpress can be a pain toc ode sometimes, it really annoys me! It takes a lot of time to figure things out at first, but once you get it, you’re good to go. Although it still confuses me at times, ugh.
