Do you find it surprising that I even though I’m not religious or believe in any god whatsoever I still think Jesus existed? I do. I don’t think he was god’s son though. Just a wise prophet who preached about peace and loving each other. Kind of like a hippie.
Why do I believe this? Well because I think there’s some truth behind most religions, except Scientology which is just a whole lot of BS. It must have started somewhere, right? And I think Jesus existed but that through the centuries his original message have been terribly distorted until not much of what it was all about in the beginning is left.
Speaking of Scientology. That must be one of the most ridiculous religions ever. If you haven’t read about it it’s a bunch of mumbo jumbo about aliens. Not unexpected considering the guy who invented it was a Science-fiction writer who did psychedelic drugs while writing his “bible”. There’s also proof that he made up a religion purely to profit from it. To make it even better they not only have a utterly ridiculous theology made up by a Sci-Fi writer on drugs but also like to use illegal methods to shut up anyone who’s publicly questioning them. Nice “religion”. Really.

They actually have historical proof that Jesus did exist, which I thought was kind of interesting. Whether or not he was the Messiah and whatnot, is for the individual to decide, I guess.
Scientology… I don’t know. I’m a big believer in religious tolerance, the concept of “to each his own,” and Scientology really puts me to the test on that belief.

I think there’s nothing wrong with believing He existed despite not your being part of the religion. I’m a Christian and of course I believe he existed and preached and all, but I agree with you that it’s possible that some of the stories we know today may have been really twisted differently over the years..
Scientology, one of the few things I can’t help but laugh at. I don’t see how people can believe that crap.
I completely understand and agree with you. I don’t know about faith and all that, I’m still trying to figure it out, but with so much hype about him, he had to be an actual person. It’s the details we can’t be too sure about. They say that the bible was written by people, but “through God’s hands”, but how can you really say God wrote through you? So I don’t see how people can take a book as complete fact.
Haha, the only thing about scientology I know is what Dana Carvey talks about on his stand-up. I thought he was full of it, but when I looked it up it looked like he was telling the truth… if you don’t know who I’m talking about look it up on youtube. It’s hilarious!
I believe the same thing, that Jesus was a great philosopher and a man of peace. I also think he knew tricks and illusions to get people’s attention.
