Time flies. Summer came, stayed for a while and is now about to leave again. I’ve been busy living, doing the usual things but in the warmth of the green and blue season. I think I’m back to blogging now that summer is over but don’t take my word for it. After all I’ve made such promises for months now without getting more than a maximum of six posts up every month. Anyway, we’ll see what happens. Moving on! :)

I turned 27 the 29th of July and I promised I’d show you photos of what I got so here we go. Besides these things I also got money.

Rug which fit my kitchen perfectly.

I wanted a cake with strawberries so my family made me one. Strawberries is a must when your birthday is in the summer. :)

Another lovely thing that happened this summer was the trip to Stockholm I did and the cruise I went on. The 4th of August I took the train up to Stockholm to visit my friend Milla and on the 6th I met up with my family for a one night cruise to Finland. You can look at the photos here.

As you can see the Happenings gallery is up and running again. It’s my photo blog where photos of the things I do will end up. That means everything from parties to walks in the nature. Photos of the latest stuff I bought and such will still be shown here in the blog.

Other than that today is a big day because it’s my first day of school this term. This fall I’ll study 3D modelling, Graphic design for the web, Information Technology and Swedish working class history. The first three classes are more or less related to web design but the last one is purely for fun. Contrary to most people I find politics very interesting so I’m really looking forward to this class. Studying graphics will be great as well since I’m ok at the coding part of web design but suck when it comes to creating graphics.

Anyway, that’s all for now. I want to finish this with thanking those who stick with me and my blog even though I so rarely update it nowadays. Lots of love to you.

It’s 2 PM and I’m at my parent house. For the first time in days I’ve woken up at a somewhat decent time. By decent time I mean 1 PM compared to the regular 4 PM. This whole having nothing to do during the entire summer sure has changed my sleeping pattern. When I don’t need to go to bed before 12 AM I simply don’t and yesterday for example I stayed up until approximately 7 AM. It’s a very bad habit that’ll have to change in about a month when school starts.

Oh yeah, I didn’t tell you. I got into several uni classes this fall so I’ll continue my studies. I’ve accepted four 7,5 point (full time studies is 30 points) courses but I’m still a back-up to a couple more which I hope I’ll get into after the second acceptance answer. Since you can apply to a maximum of twenty courses people are bound to get into more courses than they need and therefore give up their spot in some to backups like me. Even though I was stupid and forgot to apply in time and therefore only could get in at all as a backup I still got into more courses than I needed and had to turn two down. So, I’m at least hoping for the one I’m backup number two on which happen to be what I most want to study of all the twenty I applied to. Surely two people who got in will turn it down.

I’m ending this with photos of some early birthday gifts I got from my friend Milla. My birthday isn’t until the 29th but I got the gifts when Milla was in town which doesn’t happen that often since she lives some 30 (european) miles away.

I have something that I call my box of memories. It used to be one box but now it’s actually two. These boxes mostly contains knicknack most people would throw away. Those small things we come by, are given or find which we don’t pay much attention to. I’ve made a thing out of saving small things like that because they’re also memories with stories behind.

These are my boxes which of course like everything in them have their own stories. One used to be my mothers and the other I got as a present. Both are from my childhood.

Here’s a photo of all the stuff in the boxes. Papers, photos, things given to me, things made by me, things I’ve won, tickets from places I’ve been and events I’ve gone to. Just a lot of random stuff.

My cat Bettsy passed away three hours ago. She passed away and I wasn’t there. You see she’s been living with my parents since I thought it would be mean of me to bring her along when I moved out of my parents house. She’s… she was used to a big house, a garden and liked my mum more than she liked me anyway. So I left her there when I moved to my own apartment and eventually got two other cats who I’ve had for a couple of years now. Still Bettsy was my first cat. I got her when I was only ten years old and she was supposed to turn seventeen in just a few days. Seventeen years she’s been part of my family and now she’s gone. She lived a long and happy life and died safe in my mothers arms but knowing all that doesn’t take any of the pain away. She’s gone, she’ll never come back and I wasn’t there when she died.

 Bettsy 930625-100620. I love you. Rest in peace baby. You will be missed.

Every spring I become restless. As nature wakes up after the long sleep of winter so do I and as I’m waking up I’m filled with all this energy. Not just energy really but ideas as well. Ideas of things to do, places to see and generally just a thousand ways to change my life. I’m a hippie at heart. A real bohemian actually. And that’s the side of me that takes over every spring. All of a sudden everything I want to do and everything that feels important are these really crazy ideas of changing my life completely. Like moving to a cabin in the woods, travel Europe in a hippie van, live at a cheap apartment hotel in Paris and write a book or go to Australia to pick fruit for a year.

I suppose most people would find my dreams unrealistic but I can’t help being a dreamer. Life should be a remarkable adventure but people (including me) tend to settle for the comfortable and easy attainable lifestyle which is OK but not the life of our dreams. I mean, my life isn’t bad. Just average. I don’t like average. Lots of people say that you shouldn’t dream too big because in the end life is always average and the sooner you realize that the better. Excuse me but what the fuck? NO, it doesn’t have to be like that! My life won’t be like that. One day I will do something out of the ordinary. One day my life will be a remarkable adventure. I have to believe it can be because that’s what keeps me up when my life becomes too much of a grey routine. What would we be without our dreams and what would life be like if we gave up just because what we want isn’t easy attainable?

Getting all deep and melancholic again. It’s weird the things spring does to me. Part of me become really sad and longing for something more while another part of me is overjoyed by the simple beauty of the season. Luckily most of the time I’m overjoyed as I let the sun warm my face, stroll over meadows of spring flowers and just enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Even a day like this when the rain is pouring down I’m quite happy because during months and months of snow I’ve really missed rain.

Speaking of something else. I’ll really try to blog more often. I think I’ll have more time for it now considering I’ve finished two uni classes and currently is failing the last one. I’ve totally given up on the JavaScript class. There’s just no way in hell I’ll pass it so I’m not even trying any more. Perhaps I would have passed it if I had lectures to go to where someone explained everything in a easy to grasp manner but I do all the studying online by myself and that isn’t working for this class. Obviously this makes me feel like a epic failure but I’ve come to terms with it and try to think of the other two classes which I did pass instead. Out of three possible grades this term I’ll end up with one of each for the three classes I’ve taken. Talk about imbalance in performance. I’m not surprised though since I’ve never been a straight A student and since the first time I got grades they’ve been all over the spectrum. From the highest to the lowest and very much depending on whether I like a subject or not. I do like JavaScript though but unfortunately I’m having a hard time understanding it. That’s a first. So far in my life I’ve never failed in something I’ve actually liked and wanted to learn. Oh well, it is as it is and like I said, I’ve come to terms with it. It’s not the end of the world.

I’ll end this post with a recent photo of myself which I really like.

I like the 18th century because of the beautiful clothes, furniture and architecture. Everything fashionable back then was absolutely gorgeous. The 19th century had a lot of beautiful stuff as well but the 17th century is my favourite century. I also like gothic things and the combination of that and old fashioned elegance is something you’ll find in a lot of things about me. My brand new black chandelier for example. :) Take a look at the new photos of my home if you haven’t yet by the way!

So, on the subject of elegant gothic things, I’ve had my eyes on this picture frame from IKEA for a while.

Then yesterday I realized, hey wait a minute, it doesn’t necessarily have to be a picture frame when I suddenly came to think of the fact that I have a mirror with a very similar frame. Problem was it was gold coloured and I don’t like gold nor does it suit the colour scheme of my home. Notice how I say that it was gold coloured? It’s not any more because last night I painted it black. It’s a 25×20 cm frame but it took me six god damn hours to paint it! Why is that you might wonder? Well let’s just say the paint I used for painting my kitchen walls really isn’t intended for painting plastic. One coat of paint wasn’t enough. Nor two or three or four. Actually I don’t even know how many coats it took. It wasn’t the easiest thing to paint either because of all the details, hence the six hours. It was worth it though since it turned out great. The gold visible around the edge of the mirror on the after photo is the back of the frame reflected in the mirror which sits a bit loose. That’s not visible to the naked eye though, only on photo, so that’s not a problem. And I know that I need to clean the mirror. :P Anyway, here’s it is, before and after.

I’ve bought a lot of books in second hand stores and at auctions in the past few years. What’s pretty cool about second hand books is that quite often you can find stuff between the pages. Old photos, newspaper clippings and hand written notes which the previous owner of the book forgot and left there. Here’s some of the things I’ve found.

I have to start with this because it’s hilarious. This my friends is a blackmail letter! The translation goes like this: “Annika! Put 200 crowns in a envelope and send to Jan Svensson Två bröd road 13 H 39358 Kalmar. Or else I’ll spread out that you like Pontus Wintler”. Poor Annika, 200 crowns is about $17 which is pretty much money for a kid and I bet Pontus Wintler was ugly as hell and not someone you’d want people to think you were in love with. I do wonder what Jan Svensson does today. I hope he didn’t decide that blackmail was a good career path. If he did, oh well, there’s a prison in Kalmar…
