Layout up since January 11 2010.

I’ve tried to make something out of my idea of using picture frames as image links for quite some time but it isn’t until now I’ve managed to incorporate it into a layout. Other than that I’m proud of having succeeded with my first attempts of using border shadowing and custom fonts.

I started webdesigning in 1999 when I was fifteen but didn’t put a site online until 2000. I had sites with various names until somewhere around 2001 or 2002 when I settled on the name Whirlwind. That’s the title of one of my favourite songs by one of my favourite bands; Broder Daniel. In February 2005 I bought my first domain name; “www.whirlwind.nu”. I chose a nu-adress since nu means “now” in swedish. After three years at my free host with a redirecting domain name I bought my own space to go with the name.

From the beginning and for many years Whirlwind was a Swedish site but in the spring of 2006 I made a english site aswell as a side project. I kept two sites for about a year and a half until I got sick of updating two pages with two blogs and since I was more active at English Whirlwind I decided to merge my two sites into one English.

I code in Notepad++ and make my graphics in Photoshop. Whirlwind is valid XHTML 1.0 Strict and valid CSS 2.1.

This is my personal site and I don’t earn any money whatsoever from it. You’ll never have to suspect that things I write are sponsored posts and not my actual opinions since I’m strongly against sponsored posts as hidden advertising. I don’t do paid linking and the sites I link I link because I like them – not because I’m paid to have them there.

The Whirlwind Archive contains many of my old layouts. All layouts used on English Whirlwind, dating from 2006 and those for Swedish Whirlwind used between 2005-2007. Most of my old layouts aren’t what I’d call brilliant but like anyone doing something for a long period of time I’ve evolved and changed style a couple times.
