I’ve been web designing since 1999 and had sites with various names until somewhere around 2004 when I settled for the name Whirlwind. That’s the title of one of my favourite songs by one of my favourite bands; Broder Daniel.

In February 2005 I bought my first domain name; “whirlwind.nu”. I chose a nu-address since nu means “now” in Swedish. In 2010 I bought the domain name whirlwind.se which for the time being redirects here. At some point I may make the .se address the main one and the .nu the secondary.

From the beginning and for many years Whirlwind was written in Swedish but in the spring of 2006 I made a site in English as well as a side project. I kept two sites for about a year and a half until I got sick of updating two pages with two blogs and since I was more active at English Whirlwind I decided to merge my two sites into one English.

I code in Notepad++ and make/edit graphics in Photoshop CS3. Whirlwind used to be valid XHTML 1.0 Strict until I upgraded to a new version of WordPress which is using experimental HTML5 code. Now thanks to WP my site no longer validates but I’m afraid I’ll break my blog if I remove the code which gives the errors since it’s connected to important blog functions. The code isn’t wrong per se, just new, but might become standard in the future. My own code of course validates without any problems and the 3.0 CSS is valid as well.

Unless otherwise stated everything you find here is made by and belongs to me. If you want to use something I’ve made just ask. I’m not impossible.

Version 15: Powder Blue has been up since April 5 2012.

This layout is a quick remake of the previous one. I just changed the colours and images. A friend suggested I’d make something which isn’t black, grey or pink for a change. There is some black in this one but mostly it’s blue so mission accomplished.

If you’re using Internet Explorer 7 or 8 the site won’t look as pretty as it’s supposed to since those are old browsers not up to date with modern code. In IE 9 everything but the custom font will work. I suggest you switch browser to experience this site and many others in all the glory of modern coding.

The Whirlwind Archive contains most of my old layouts. All layouts for English Whirlwind can be seen here and for Swedish Whirlwind every one dating from 2002 (before my site even was called Whirlwind) to 2007 are on display. This means my entire personal site history but the ten very first layouts I made are in this archive. Be warned: most of the old stuff isn’t what I’d call brilliant and the earliest stuff is downright horrible but like anyone doing something for a long period of time I’ve evolved and changed style a couple of times.
