I’ve used the internet since I was 13, back in 1996. I’ve had my own site and internet journals, both on my site and elsewhere, since 2000. I call it internet journals because back then that’s what blogs were called.
Between 1999 and 2005 I had internet journals written in Swedish at three Swedish online communities; Lunarstorm, Skunk and Helgon. First at Lunarstorm, then at Skunk and Helgon simultaneously (same entries posted at both places) and then only at Helgon. I also had a journal written in English at Livejournal during 2004-2005.
I’ve had a personal website since 2000 and in 2005 I decided to start blogging on my own site rather than doing that through online communities. Between 2005 and 2007 I had two sites and blogs, one in Swedish and one in English, both on the same domain. In 2007 I discontinued the Swedish part of my site and have since then only kept a site and blog in English. My current blog archive only goes back to 2008 since that’s when I switched blog system to WordPress.
My site and blog hasn’t undergone any big changes in years now because I like my domain and I also like WordPress. In a while I’ll begin another blog though. One in Swedish. Do not worry dear international readers, this will remain my main blog. The new blog will be a secondary one where I’ll most likely write more about the typically Swedish things.
There’s so many things I don’t blog about here since I try to avoid writing about things my international readers can’t relate to. That’s why I want this Swedish blog. A place where I can write about Gudrun Schyman’s comeback into politics. Or the fact that I read about Ebba Hultqvist in the newspaper today and came to think of that TV-series she was in during the late 90s and then came to think about Swedish TV in general during the late 90s. If you’re not Swedish you most likely know nothing about either those people or Swedish TV and that’s the reason I wouldn’t post a blog entry about any of that here. It would be nice to have a place to post such entries though.
So that’s at least the thought I have behind this new blog which will be presented in a few weeks time. I hope you Swedish readers will follow that blog as well. This blog will continue as usual and will be updated just as often as it is now. Nothing will change here.
I have many blog buddies. People who’s blogs I’ve followed for years. People who have followed me for years. It’s amazing to think about. That I’ve known many of you for five years or more and we’ve followed each others lives for so long without ever meeting in real life. It’s a bit sad also. That I know so many interesting people who won’t ever be a part of my circle of friends because you live so far away. It would be awesome to hang out and be real life friends. I would have loved that. Thanks for being part of my online life for so long, all of you amazing blog buddies who I go way back with. Perhaps I get too meet some of you in real life some day.
I realize my blog has become rather shallow with very short entries lately. That’s because I’m busy but still want to blog. The solution is short entries with not much more than a photo. At least that’s better than not blogging at all. I also write a lot of entries at once and then schedule them to be posted one by one, once a day at 6 PM. All entries from the past couple of weeks posted at 6 PM are ones I’ve written earlier and scheduled to be posted later.
Since I haven’t got much more to say I leave you with a photo, as usual.

NO I don’t want to comment your blog to have a chance of becoming “blog of the week”.
NO I don’t want to ask you a question in your “ask me a question” entry. I don’t know you so why should I care?
NO I don’t want to buy stuff from your blog auction.
What is it with Swedish bloggers and their comments advertising themselves in others blogs? That’s called SPAM and it’s rude. Write a comment which has something to do with my blog entry and I might visit your blog but don’t just comment with an ad for your own blog. By doing so you’re making damn sure I’ll never click your link.
I sometimes feel that my blog is boring. Everyone else seems to write much more interesting blogs than me.
What do you want me to write about? Does my blog need more funny entries? More about politics and current events? More photos of me? More home decor? More shopping? Should I write about music, movies and books? More about what I do during the days? About my job? My cats? My clothes? My art?
Got any input? What is it that you like about my blog? Any particular kind of posts I write which interests you?
I get the feeling that Swedish bloggers rarely uses WordPress but rather seem to prefer simpler blog publishing tools like Blogger or Blogg.se. With that comes limitations when it comes to the layouts. Most Swedish blogs have really god awful boring layouts. Or is it just so that all the international blogs I visit happen to be ran by people who are into web design and that is not what most international blogs look like? The blogosphere is one big sphere consisting many small spheres. Perhaps the sphere I move in and the spheres overlapping that one have unusually many web designers.
Speaking of the blogosphere. Isn’t it interesting that there are these kind of small families in the blog world? For example several of the blogs I read and bloggers I keep in touch with on Facebook are friends with each other. If I look at some of my blogging buddies Facebook profiles we have like five friends in common, even though none of us have ever met IRL and only know each other through blogging. That’s what I meant by the blogosphere consisting of many small spheres. And the one I move in is packed with web designers. Is there such a sphere in the Swedish blog world? Because I seem to have missed it.
Something I find terribly rude is to comment someone’s blog with nothing but advertising about your own contest. Yeah, someone actually posted such a comment on one of my recent entries. Seriously fucking rude! I’m not going to write the address of the blog because they don’t even deserve the negative attention that would give them. Oh yeah, it also appears as though they deleted my comment where I told them it’s rude to spam other people’s blogs.
Speaking of contests. Deadline to enter my contest is today! Info here!
By the way, is it just me or does the thought cross your mind that someone might have died if you can’t find them anywhere on the internet? When you try Google, Facebook, online phone books and no result whatsoever. If I can’t find someone who is my age and therefore certainly much be using the internet I do wonder if the person maybe died.
2011 truly was the year of the blog draught. 2010 was pretty bad as well but 2011 was truly horrible up until my return to the blogosphere in October. I promise you that I’m back to stay now though since I have this new found joy when it comes to blogging.
I’m really glad some of my readers have stayed with me and still read my blog even after all my time away from the blogosphere. Most of you who still stops by and comment I’ve known for years now as we’ve followed each others lives through blog entries and online communities. The fact that I have friends all over the world is really cool. I just wish the world wasn’t so big. Having you all nearby would be amazing.
Speaking of online friends, Christmas is almost here and I’d love to exchange Christmas cards with as many of you as possible. Anyone up for it?
I love getting Christmas cards. I love everything about Christmas! Buying gifts, wrapping them, decorating the tree, the Christmas music (Absolute Christmas FTW! (Swedish Christmas CD)), the decorations everywhere, the food, the drinks, the candles, the Christmas movies, everything!
I’ve bought a white Christmas tree and a few sets of ornaments. I’ll probably go with a little more pink than I originally had planned since I can’t find many black and white ornaments. The colour theme will be black, white, pink and silver. Won’t that look awesome? I think so. I bought five of the cupcake ornaments I blogged about a couple of days ago. I’ll probably buy more of them but five was all I could afford at the moment since they were quite pricy. Well at least I think 30 SEK (€3 $4) a piece is pricy.
Man I hope my cats won’t ruin the tree, tip it over, break the ornaments, eat it or whatever. I’ve never had a full sized tree standing on the floor so I’m not sure how they’ll react to it. They’ve been curious of the small trees I’ve had before but I’ve managed to put those in positions not easily reached by the cats, like on top of a book case. Fingers crossed there won’t be a cat vs Christmas tree accident.
Anyway, it’s really late, or early, depending on how you see it. I’m going to continue organizing some stuff while watching Freaky Friday. Yes, that’s the kind of things I do at 5 AM. For some reason I tend to get terribly inspired to do all kinds of things in the middle of the night. Cleaning, organizing, baking, painting and blogging, obviously.
Hi! Just letting you know I’ll return to the blogosphere really soon. Summer is almost over and I’ll have time to blog again now. See you soon!
