Last weekend I walked in a Halloween parade but of course I forgot to bring my camera so I don’t have any photos of me in my pirate costume. I’ll dress up in it just for photos some time though because I really want to show you how arr I looked in it. This is the fourth time I’ve dressed up for Halloween. I’ve been Wednesday Addams, a dark fairy, Siouxsie Sioux and now a pirate. Next year I’ll do the headless bride costume I blogged about a while ago.
Fall is passing by quickly and this year autumn doesn’t feel as bad as it usually does. I still loathe the season with every fibre of my being but I manage better than last year. Probably because city life is full of distractions. The busier I am the less I notice how early it gets dark, how cold it is and how depressing the trees look without their leaves. I’m also trying to embrace the season by lighting candles in the evening and taking long baths once in a while. Those things which just aren’t as cosy in the summer. A thing which definitely is positive about fall is being able to wear my pretty winter clothes again and buying new clothes suitable for the season. Below you can see my latest finds. I just love the lusekofte (traditional Norwegian sweater) ripoffs you find everywhere in the stores this year.

I bought my Halloween costume weeks ago but today I found a costume tutorial online for the most amazing costume EVER. It’s so frustrating because I’ve spent like $100 on my costume so I can’t really change my mind now. Or I could but what would I do with the clothes I already bought? They’re really pretty and deserve to be worn. They’re just not as amazing as the other costume I saw online, which is a DIY thing I could make myself for a rather small sum of money. What to do, what to do? I love my pirate outfit but isn’t a headless bride like a hundred times cooler? I think so. A headless bride carrying her head in her arms! Yes, that’s right. In that costume I would be carrying around my own head. Basically you make a upper body and arms in papier mache and metal wire and attach it to sticks ducktaped to a backpack so you can carry the fake upper body above your head. Pull a dress over it, make a hole in it around the waistline and stick out your head, resting it in the fake arms. Hard to top a costume like that eh?

Chai tea, an episode of The X-files and scented candles in a dimly lit room is my way of trying to embrace the darker season. Since I’m into the whole positive thinking and life is what you make of it thing I’m trying hard to find positive aspects in something as horrible as autumn even though all I want to do when I look outside the window is go to bed and sleep until April. I have to admit though, drinking tea in a candle lit room is rather cosy. And not something I do during the summer. Mostly because the temperature in my apartment stays around +30 C for most of summer and hot tea and candles really isn’t what I think of when I feel like I’m melting.
I made a Halloween decoration today. I think I’m going to redo it though, with thicker paper. This one is made of thin glossy gift wrapping paper which wrinkles. The thought is that the silhouette of the bat should be seen through the window from outside in the evening when the lamp in the kitchen is lit. When the blinds aren’t shut that is.

I’m not sure if I’ll do more decorations for Halloween. My apartment is spooky as it is all year round. I mean, on one wall I’ve got a plush bat hanging from a candle holder with a black candle and spider crawling on it. In my book case I’ve got a bottle of Tru Blood, on my desk there’s a undead warlock action figure. Then there’s of course the salt and pepper shaker zombies and their coffin, the hip flask with the skull and crossbones, the skull dish brush and the list goes on. Not to mention the overall gothic feel of my living room with the black chandelier and other gothic victorian details. For me, every day is Halloween.

I wish I could escape the country for a couple of months, until like April, when spring is here again for real. I don’t understand people who find autumn “cozy”. This is my view and it doesn’t give me any kind of cozy feeling whatsoever. It just brings me down.

The only upside with this time of the year is that my favourite holiday – Christmas – is approacing. I also like Halloween and I’m excited for this years celebration since I’m attending a Halloween parade in Stockholm. I’ll be going as a lady pirate. I say lady pirate because my hat has lace and ribbons and my coat is purple velvet. It’s not one of those “sexy” costumes with a short skirt because I want to be somewhat historically accurate. Still, it’s a feminine take on the classic pirate clothes. The only thing I lack at the moment is shoes. It’s nearly impossible finding historically accurate pirate boots for women. It’s all high heels “sexy pirate vixen” stuff. Since I can’t find anything I decided what the hell, I’ll make bootcuffs for a pair of my high heel boots. It won’t be historicall accurate but it’ll go with the rest of the costume and it’s only for one day. I don’t want to buy something which is just “ok” so it’s better to wear something I already own and look out for really awesome pirate boots for next year.
Moving on. Today I’m bored. Me, bored! You don’t get how weird that is because usually I’m never bored. I have way too many hobbies and always some creative project going on. Unfortunately today I don’t feel like doing any of my hobbies and when it comes to creative projects I lack inspiration. Usually when I feel like this I spend hours and hours cleaning and organizing my home but not today. Everything is already clean and perfectly organized so there’s nothing to do there. If I had more money I’d bake something but I have no more than 150 SEK (€16, $22) in my wallet and that money which will have to last until the 25th. What do you do when you’re bored? Got any tips for me?
I’ll end this post with something funny. This is Agnes Nicole Winter, one of four women the Swedish Documentary TV-series Swedish Hollywood Wives follows. And she just happens to be the Joker’s lost twin sister.

First I’d like to thank everyone who gave me tips on what to wear on Halloween. I apprechiate it, even though I won’t follow any of your advices.
I’m going as 80’s Siouxsie Sioux, lead singer of “Siouxsie and the Banshees”! It’ll be a look easy to pull off. Already got the clothes, already got the black hair. All I need to do is tease my hair and do her classic make-up.

AND meet my new affiliates Emme and Shannon!

+ Kat who I’ve done a link exchange with.

I have one week to come up with a Halloween costume and I haven’t got a clue what to wear! Give me some suggestions please! Oh, and I have no budget whatsoever so I just have to use what I allready have. I do have a lot of fun clothes though so maybe that won’t be a problem. But still, suggestions please!
