Like some of you know Sweden is a monarchy, even though the king doesn’t have any actual power. He’s mostly a pretty (yeah, right) symbol who gets to travel the world to meet all kinds of important people as a poster boy for Sweden.

And like some of you also know I think it’s embarassing for a democratic country as Sweden to have a royal house with a title inherited. Sure the royal family might not have any actual power but they’re still a official symbol of Sweden. Shouldn’t people representing our country be elected by us, the people? I’m ashamed of this. Very, very ashamed.

In a year or two the swedish princess Victoria will get married. The royal house wants extra money to pay for her wedding. They already get millions every year and now they want even more? I thought that since I’m helping to pay for this wedding I should be invited to it. So I sent a e-mail to the royal house. First comes the swedish version and below that I’ve translated it to english. So here’s what I wrote:

“Hej Victoria!

Ds.

Puss och kram!”

And in english:

“Hello Victoria!

Since my tax money will pay for your wedding I think it would be nice to be invited. To only stand outside the church in the middle of a bunch of crazy royalists with cameras feels a bit boring. No no, I want to be in the church during the ceremony and at the reception afterwards. I should at least get a piece of cake! After all you get to get married in luxory on the cost of other people so can’t I have a small piece of cake? And maybe my grandmother could get one too? She’s paid taxes for at least fifty years. Just imagine how much money she’s given you! Can’t she have a piece of cake too? That would be so sweet.

Ps. What’s the dressoce for the wedding? Perhaps you could lend me something? Once again, think about how much money your family has got from me and my grandma. Ds.

Kisses and hugs!”
